If you are replacing your Arculus card, your Arculus Wallet was likely already created with a 12-word recovery phrase. When you receive the new card, you will need to restore your original wallet in order to have access to the assets you have stored there. You cannot change your original wallet from a 12-word recovery phrase to a 24-word recovery phrase.
If you want to create a new wallet with a 24-word recovery phrase, you will need to transfer your assets from your original wallet to the new wallet by using the Send and Receive features. When sending crypto, you will incur network fees for the transactions.
If you choose to do this, there are two ways we recommend that you accomplish this.
Option 1 (you have multiple phones that support NFC):
Step 1: Restore your original Arculus Wallet on your second phone using your original Arculus card. You'll need your 12-word recovery phrase to restore your wallet on the second phone. Once you have successfully restored your wallet, allow a few minutes for your asset balances to sync with the blockchains.
Step 2: Uninstall/reinstall the Arculus Wallet app from your first (primary) phone. Connect your new, upgraded Arculus card to your primary phone and select "Create Wallet."
Step 3: Create this new wallet with a 24-word recovery phrase. Be sure to write your 24-word recovery phrase down on the recovery phrase card included in the Arculus box. This new recovery phrase card has space for the 24 words. Be sure to store it someplace safe and secure.
Step 4: Add the assets that you will be storing in your new wallet from the Assets menu.
Step 5: Copy the "receive" address from the new 24-word wallet for the asset you would like to send from your old wallet to your new wallet.
Step 6: Open your original wallet on the second phone and select the same asset you want to send. Select "Send" and paste the receive address you just copied from your new wallet. Enter the amount you want to send, click Next and follow the prompts to continue with the transaction.
Repeat steps 5 & 6 for all of the assets you want to move from your original wallet to your new wallet. You can also scan the QR code instead of copying and pasting the addresses in both of these steps.
Please note that if you are sending XRP, you must leave 10 XRP in the old wallet as a reserve. This is an XRP requirement and not an Arculus requirement.
Please also note that if you are sending ERC-20 coins and tokens, you will need to have an ETH balance in the original wallet to pay the gas fees to send ERC-20s to your new wallet.
Option 2 (you have only one phone available):
In this case, you will need to use a hot wallet temporarily to accomplish this transfer
Step 1: Restore your original Arculus Wallet in the hot wallet using your 12-word recovery phrase. Make sure your asset balances match your Arculus Wallet. You may need to allow a few minutes for the blockchains to sync
Step 2: Uninstall/reinstall the Arculus Wallet app on your phone. Connect your new card to your phone and select "Create Wallet."
Step 5: Copy the "receive" address from the asset you would like to send from your temporary hot wallet to your new Arculus wallet.
Step 6: Open your temporary hot wallet. Select "Send" and paste the receive address you just copied from your new wallet. Enter the amount you want to send, and follow the prompts to continue with the transaction.
Repeat steps 5 & 6 for all of the assets you want to move from your hot wallet to your new wallet.
Please note that if you are sending XRP, you must leave 10 XRP in the old wallet as a reserve. This is an XRP requirement and not an Arculus requirement.
