What is MoneyGram?

MoneyGram is a third-party peer-to-peer payments and money transfer service. You can use the MoneyGram integration in the Arculus app to either buy USDC (XLM network only)* with physical cash, or sell USDC (XLM network only) for cash at a physical location.

*MoneyGram integration with Arculus currently only supports USDC on XLM. All references to USDC in the article below are for USDC on XLM ONLY.

Using the MoneyGram Integration

You can access the MoneyGram Cash-In/Cash-Out option directly from the Settings Menu by selecting Settings > MoneyGram Exchange. You can also access it by tapping on your USDC, and selecting the MoneyGram option.

When you select the MoneyGram integration you are presented with two options: Cash-In or Cash-Out. Cash-In would allow you to deposit USD at a MoneyGram location and receive your USDC in your Arculus Wallet. Cash-Out allows you to send the USDC from your Arculus Wallet and receive USD at a MoneyGram location.

Cash-In with Arculus/MoneyGram

If this is your first time cashing-in with Arculus/MoneyGram, you will need to set a trustline for USDC in order to receive it in your wallet. This would normally require a small XLM fee, but Arculus covers this fee for MoneyGram cash-ins. When you first tap the cash-in option, you will be prompted to tap your card again to set the trustline. If you already have a trustline set, you will not see this step.

Once you have selected the cash-in option, you will be prompted to tap your Arculus Card. After your card tap, you are directed to a MoneyGram page to enter an amount and your personal details. You also need to select the MoneyGram location that you are going to deposit the funds at. You will also need to give the app access to your current location in order to locate and select the nearest MoneyGram location to you.

After selecting your amount, location, and entering your personal details, you will be taken to a SUCCESS screen that will list a reference number. We would recommend taking a screenshot of this page, and presenting that screenshot to the cashier at your selected MoneyGram location. The cashier will confirm your reference number and accept from you the amount of USD that you have chosen to cash-in. Once your cash-in has been funded at a MoneyGram location, they will process the USDC and send it to your Arculus Wallet.

You should now see the USDC in your Arculus Wallet!

Cash-Out with Arculus/Moneygram

Once you have selected the cash-out option, you will be prompted to tap your Arculus Card. After that you will be directed to a MoneyGram page to enter an amount and your personal details. You also need to select the MoneyGram location where you will go to receive your cash. You will also need to give the app access to your current location in order to locate and select the nearest MoneyGram location to you.

After selecting your amount, location, and entering your personal details, you will be taken to a SUCCESS screen that will list a reference number. We would recommend taking a screenshot of this page to ensure you have your reference number.

The process will not be completed at this stage. You will still need to fund your cash-out before going to a MoneyGram location.

After clicking the 'DONE' button on your MoneyGram success screen, you will be taken to a USDC send screen within your Arculus wallet app in order to fund the cash-out. If you are not automatically taken to the send screen, you can tap on your USDC in your wallet and look at your history for that asset; you should see a MoneyGram cash-out entry listed there. Please note it may take a minute or two after creating the cash-out in order for this entry to appear in your history. Tap on that entry in your history, and you will see a 'SEND USDC' button at the top. Click that button and send your USDC in order to fund the cash-out.

Once you have sent the USDC to fund your cash-out, you are ready to go to your selected MoneyGram location. Show the cashier your reference number and they will initiate the process of completing your cash-out. You will likely be directed to a MoneyGram "Red Phone" at that physical location itself where you will talk to a MoneyGram representative and confirm your information. After confirming your information, the MoneyGram representative will direct you back to the cashier in order to receive your cash.

You should now have the cash and your cash-out is complete!
