You can buy, sell or swap cryptocurrency in the Arculus Wallet via our exchange partners. Why some exchanges ask for location access:
- Regulatory compliance — Exchanges must comply with laws in different jurisdictions (e.g., certain coins or services are restricted in specific countries). Location helps them enforce these restrictions.
- Sanctions screening — Exchanges are legally required to block users in sanctioned regions (e.g., Iran, North Korea). Location is one signal they use to verify this.
- KYC/AML requirements — Know Your Customer and Anti-Money Laundering regulations sometimes require verifying a user's country of residence.
- Fraud detection — Unusual location activity (e.g., logging in from a new country) can flag potential account compromise.
- Tax reporting — Some exchanges use location to determine which tax rules apply to your transactions.
If you are attempting a buy, sell or swap and see an error message that location services are required to complete the transaction, you'll need to enable location services for your Arculus Wallet. Please follow these steps:
- Close the Arculus Wallet app completely.
- Open your iPhone’s Settings.
- Scroll down and select Arculus Wallet.
- Tap on Location.
- Choose “Ask Next Time Or When I Share.”
- Reopen the Arculus Wallet app.
- Proceed with your transaction.
- When prompted, select “Allow While Using App.”
